The Noor Standard.Exceptional tutoring begins with who we choose to teach.

Academic excellence is required. But at Noor, it is only the beginning.

The responsibility behind every match

They are trusting someone with their child. We believe that deserves more than a résumé and a screen.

Many tutoring companies rely primarily on résumés, credentials, virtual interviews, and remote screening when selecting educators. Noor Lyra Tutoring intentionally takes a more personal approach.

Our founder personally travels to meet and evaluate prospective educators face-to-face.

Academic excellence is required, but it is not enough.

Every candidate is evaluated for subject-matter expertise, educational and specialized experience, teaching ability, emotional intelligence, adaptability, professionalism, and, critically, their ability to genuinely connect with a student.

We want to see how an educator explains a difficult concept. How they respond when a learner doesn’t understand the first explanation. Whether they recognize frustration, hesitation, or disengagement. Whether they can adjust without making a student feel inadequate. Whether they can establish both warmth and academic authority.

Candidates complete founder-led evaluation and teaching demonstrations designed to assess not simply what they know, but how effectively they can transfer that knowledge to another person.

Only educators who satisfy Noor’s academic, interpersonal, and professional expectations are selected to represent our company.

What We Evaluate

Rigor made human.

The qualities that create exceptional instruction are both academic and deeply interpersonal. Noor evaluates the whole educator.

Expertise

Subject-matter knowledge, educational background, specialized experience, and command of the material.

Teaching Ability

The ability to explain, demonstrate, question, and transfer knowledge with clarity and precision.

Emotional Intelligence

Awareness of frustration, hesitation, confidence, disengagement, and the learner behind the performance.

Adaptability

The judgment to change an explanation, pace, or approach without making the student feel inadequate.

Professionalism

Integrity, preparation, reliability, communication, and respect for the responsibility entrusted to us.

Connection

The rare capacity to establish warmth and academic authority while helping a student feel genuinely understood.

A Distinctive Noor Standard

Neurodivergent expertise.Evaluated carefully, never assumed.

Supporting a neurodivergent learner requires more than patience or a general willingness to adapt.

Noor carefully evaluates an educator’s understanding of attention, executive function, processing differences, communication style, sensory needs, and the emotional history a learner may bring to academic work.

Candidates must demonstrate that they can adjust pace, language, structure, practice, and feedback without lowering expectations or diminishing the student. The goal is not to make the work less meaningful. It is to create the conditions in which the learner can fully engage with it.

Selected to Represent Noor

We call that Noor Compliant.

Selection is only the beginning. We continue to consider student progress, family experience, tutor performance, and the strength of each student-tutor match as part of our commitment to maintaining exceptionally high standards.

Because families are not simply hiring someone who understands calculus, geometry, reading, chemistry, or test preparation. They are trusting someone with their child.

It deserves the Noor Standard.

Thoughtfully selected educators. Intentionally personal evaluation. A standard designed around the responsibility families place in us.
